The day before we planned to shoot our trailer, we went to the location where we are going to shoot and prepared it for the next day. The reason why we decided to prepare the day before was so that on the day of the shoot we didn't waste the actress' time and also so we could cous on other aspects such as lighting and camera angles.
For the children's bedroom scene in the trailer, we wanted to make it look like there was a child in the bed. So we got pillows and cddly toy and put a wig on it to make it look like a little girl sleeping.
We put a different duvet cover on the bed and different pillows from what was originally on the bed, the pattern on these is more child like and girly, as if it is a little girl's bedroom. When we put the duvet over the model it looks very life like.
At first we had the hair tucked into the duvet with the teddy bears lying next to it, but when putting the hair over the duvet we found it looks more real.
We will be using the kitchen for another main location as well as the children's bedroom. We had to prepare it so that the mise-en-scene would link with the character we have created.
As part of the mise-en-scene we wanted to have a wine bottle in the shots, this was to show that since her husband was killed, she had troubled nights and needed a drink of wine, as a newly single parent she may be finding it hard to cope.
To create this bottle of wine, we filled an empty bottle with water and red food colouring, trying to make it all as believable as possible.
On the window sil we have some children's things to make the house look more like a family home with small children living there. The baby bowl and bottle show a baby is there, and the hello kitty cup can represent the little girl.
This is just going to be in the shot when walking to the door to greet the neighbour. We canted it to so that she would leave her mail on the side and she is quite carefree.
This is the mantlepiece where she will ont he phone to the detective, we cleared it so that it would just have the pictures on it, focusing on the kid and the couple.
Wehn she is on the phone to the detective she will be looking longingly at the image of her and her late husband. Shwoing them when they were a happy couple. We just printed off a picture of our actress and her real life boyfriend to have as the image, to make it more realistic.
We also got a picture of a child to be in the picture frame so that that could be the small child of Sam. This is to be in the background of the shot.
